Southern New England Forest Consortium, Inc. Mission

The Southern New England Forest Consortium, Inc. (SNFECI) is a nonprofit forest conservation organization that promotes forest conservation and the productive use of the region's forests and natural resources.

Established in 1985, SNEFCI's vision is to serve as a regional leader in the promotion of wise forest conservation principles. Its goal is twofold. First, to communicate to residents the importance of forested lands and the value of forest stewardship practices. Second, to work with and influence those who can impact the condition and quality of these lands.

SNEFCI's mission is to Ensure Forests for the Future through the promotion of  programs, policies, and partnerships that preserve the forest land base of southern New England by:

  • Reducing Forest Fragmentation
  • Promoting Stewardship of Forest Resources
  • Enhancing Urban and Community Forest Resources

Services include research and educational outreach programs designed for landowners, residents, educators, natural resource groups, government officials, land trusts, and volunteer groups. Our  emphasis on education stems from the fact that today, 4,218,000 acres, or 78%, of southern New England's forested acres are privately owned by 385,000 diverse individuals.
